Hello Sharks,
Since I have been in the Clan for nearly two weeks I’d like to share some thoughts that I think could help Players New to the Clan (or to the Game) adapt better.

But First of all I’d like to thank everyone of you who patiently helped me in my first days with you.
So that I can say with a little pride on my side that I was able to change from “Oh, right I am going to stand right here in the Corner and will blow in this whistle if any Bad Guy come my way” to “My side is clear, do you need help over there?”

Thanks again Guys! You are awesome.

But I am still learning new stuff where I think it might be helpful to have some sort of “How we do XY here at Space Shark Inc.”

Let me give you an example. I was doing some Tx Def with someone of our Clan and I during our waves there was one Guy running around and killing stuff right on the Spawn instead of near the Pod. The Guy I was playing with told the Guy to stop being a “Hallway Hero” and after nothing changed stopped the mission.
I, not knowing what a “Hallway Hero” was asked him, what he meant with that. He told me that this is a slang for people running around in DEF Missions not protecting the Pod and probably dying during the later Rounds and being difficult to revive.
But he told me, that this was not the worst of it and he took his time to tell me about XP Sharing Ranges and how the game works with that.
This was all new to me and yes, I could have read through reddit or other sources to get to know this stuff a “How we do XY here at Space Shark Inc.” would have helped me a lot.

So what do you think of setting up some Post regarding how different Mission should be played?
E.g.
> In Tower Def you first open all Lockers, before anyone moves inside the Def Zone.
>Stay inside the Def Zones or near it. (Maybe showing a screenshot?!)
>Don’t do the Hallway Hero since you will keep hogging XP that otherwise would be shared
Etc.

Legendscreed... come here...

I was thinking the same thing. Legendscreed has done something like this. maybe it doesn't cover the unwritten rules.

sounds neat, we were talking about these How To's in october during the october-mou(stache)vember "newb helping offensive"

Some things usally can be shown, "good manners" in sense of being a teamplayer can not!
And i highly doubt that the majority of ppl in the clan will read through those guidelines let alone hear about them.

Socondor just go to Kiste on Ceres, play a couple runs with randoms, then you will get an idea of bad and good teamplayers, and why it usually is useless teaching bad players anything.

[preaching]
You quickly find your own playsyle and stick to it, whether it is teamserving or not. Some evolve others do not, even worse feed this habit or simply oversell their abilities.
You also quickly will find ppl in clan or in game that you appreciate playing with and others you'd rather not play and some you simply refuse playing with!
[/preaching]

QuoteQuestion is, is there any way ayu can "help" him?

I do agree with you that some things can be shown and i for myself can say that a lot of Sharks are willing to give me some feedback / advice on how to behave during certain missions.
Also mostly everybody is willing to answer any questions that i am throwing into the channel.

You may call me naive, romantic, dreamer or an idiot, but when i am playing with my fellow sharks i kind of expect them to be on rougly the same page regarding how a mission should be played.

Also i am willig to give people a chance thinking, that maybe they did not know better.
I am still far from being a perfect player, but i do ask if i don't understand something.

A How to would probably covered a lot of my questions and would even answer some that i didn't even know to ask yet.

Just doing the objective would be a start on most of these missions.

I use the same logic as when I am driving/riding. If everyone does what I do will the mission fail? If so then do something different. In a defence mission you will often find me standing on the pod alone killing a handful of mobs that get through the pro-team running around like headless chickens. That handful of mobs don't end the mission because of me. Not because of the crazy spawnchasing egotists with a flawed plan in their heads.

If you move towards the spawning point the spawning point will move back further away from the team. But, i guess if you aren't told this information you don't know.

I learned this game by emulating the obviously better players than myself, wonder why others are doing what they are doing and assess the reasons. If you are weak for whatever reason stay near another player, Only solo players lose lots of revives.

Once you stop worrying about having the highest kill count you enjoy this game a whole lot more. (I played Nekros during Breeding Grounds and got 12 kills in 80 mins).
