I use this chrome extension for when I want to watch Netflix from U.S.A, since Australia doesn't have that many titles.

They blocked pirating sites? Damn, that's unlucky.

Good luck with being a pirate shark in australia, maybe organizations like Brazzers will try to block free porn sites.

I use Expat Shield for watching english television, has english, dutch, german, american, and swedish settings,      Hotspot shield is a paid VPN that has wider coverage and inbuilt malware protection and such.      If you don't mind being limited to Hungary a properly updated TorVPN is quite safe, and keeps zero logs, however you are limited bandwidth, Or you could drop the equivilent of 10 usd a month on TorGuard. Which is my personal setup for downloading stuff.

Alternatively. We could personally make a system using hamachi or openVPN, if people don't mind letting clan mates know exactly where they are.

Options...Options...in closing the better VPNs are the paid ones or if the clan set one up

The simple 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as dns doesn't help?

If my grammar sucks, please tell me.

You'll need a VPN. Free ones are just no use. Hidemyass is a good choice.

If torrenting then access to the tracker is the only thing you need to vpn, there are lists of proxy domains available.

Your ip at the end can be traced with a court order with reasonable evidence (easy to do if you don't vpn)

Hidemyass is now owned by AVG FYI

Pirates bay can never be killed, just revived in inconvenient ways.

...
got a dummies guide for this?

and with vpn's they only apply to web browsers? not actual applications like utorrent or java apps?

Which bit to you need help with?

Get a VPN service, try a free one to start, vpnreactor for example. Set up instructions should be there.

Then visit https://proxybay.co/

There is a list of proxies for pirate bay (not the only one available)

Click and then torrent all the freely available legal content there. Avoid the illegal stuff.

Remember to check for viruses with a decent antivirus program.

The VPN would deal with all the traffic from your computer to the internet. It would bypass any restrictions on traffic imposed by your ISP.

In the UK we can't access some torrent sites as the major ISPs have them blocked. Just sidestep them, I am sure they are happy to plead plausible deniability.

Edit: Most VPN services have a restriction on traffic and speeds the more you want the more expensive they are. I use VPN to get torrent links then revert back to my regular ISP.

pretty much this bit, the others were suprisingly comprehensible

So when i get a torrent it goes straight into my utorrent downloader yeah? would the utorrent application require a vpn to download the things? or would i only need access to sites e.g. PirateBay.org to get a torrent then i can just start it using utorrent?

since my vpn i found funnily enough on pirate bay only proxies the browsers from my understanding

Using VPN while downloading the torrent will only work if the ISP does not look for p2p traffic to flag, if they do you'll have to vpn while torrenting as well.

Here's a good list of VPNs by torrentfreak : https://torrentfreak.com/ ... -review-2015-150228/

Personally I used mullvad and PIA, both are cheap but PIA offers more options, if you're looking for a free good vpn with slightly worse latency but a good amount servers look at SofEther VPN with the gate plugin, link here : http://www.vpngate.net/en ... /download.aspx . This VPN was created by a university in Japan and they have lots of good options available.

I would suggest against using Hola, the extension / app sells your bandwidth as a botnet, see http://www.digitaltrends. ... bandwidth-as-botnet/

Hola is essentially a worm, extension included. As far as free goes, Cyberghost is phenomenal if you're a backend user, and Tunnelbear is exceptionally accessible. That said, you're gonna have to get a bit crafty if you want to try and use them for torrenting, as they operate under US jurisdiction and have features in place that nominally block torrent-oriented usage.
